LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA •
Churches of Scientology in 14 countries joined forces with Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) last week conducting a global petition drive in support of human rights education. Based on the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the petition calls on governments to make human rights education mandatory and to conduct human rights education campaigns. The Declaration was ratified by the UN General Assembly in 1948 and defines the fundamental freedoms and human rights in the United Nations Charter.
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA •
More than 1,400 guests attended the 41st Anniversary Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre Gala in Hollywood on Saturday, August 7. The guest list included many of the Church’s well-known members, including John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Anne Archer, Erika Christensen, Nancy Cartwright (voice of Bart Simpson) and Jenna Elfman.

Churches of Scientology around the world celebrate the original release of the religion’s first book this weekend. Published May 9, 1950, Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health became an overnight success and has been a continuing bestseller for 60 years. The work is the anatomy and full description of a portion of the mind that is the source of nightmares, unreasonable fears, upsets and insecurities. More than 20 million copies have been sold.
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA •
The Church of Scientology of Pasadena is underway on renovations of the historic Braley Building in the heart of Old Pasadena. The full renovation and restoration of the Braley Building by fall 2010 reflects significant expansion for the Pasadena Church. The 50,800-square-foot building at 35 South Raymond Avenue will serve 10,000 parishioners and provide a broad spectrum of community outreach programs in the greater Pasadena area, including Glendale, La Cañada, La Crescenta, Sunland/Tujunga, the San Gabriel Valley, the Inland Empire and San Bernardino.

Bridge Publications is releasing eight popular non-fiction titles by L. Ron Hubbard in 50 languages at the annual Frankfurt Book Fair. The Los Angeles-based publishing house is the exclusive publisher for the Scientology religion and one of the world’s largest all-digital printers. In its announcement to the trade, Nicole Shell, Bridge’s Director of Public Relations said the feat makes the most popular basic Scientology books available to 90 percent of the global book market.

The Church of Scientology "Know Yourself-Know Life" cross-platform ad campaign, airing on cable TV, satellite TV channels and the Internet launched four months ago, has brought 10 million visitors to Scientology.org.

The Church of Scientology International has launched an unprecedented, cross-platform information campaign aimed directly at raising spiritual awareness and values throughout North America. The endeavor began last week with a trio of "Know yourself, know life" ads running on TV, satellite and cable stations, as well as via Google ads, Yahoo, YouTube, iPhone and other social media networks.
