Honoring Red Ribbon Week and its message of prevention and education, The Church of Scientology National Affairs Office in Washington, D.C. co-hosted the first annual anti-drug forum of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World on October 22.
EAST GRINSTEAD/SUSSEX, UNITED KINGDOM •
Sunday October 21st, an audience of over 1500, including mayors, dignitaries and other special guests, attended a musical spectacular hosted by the Church of Scientology at Saint Hill Manor. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution, a charitable institution founded in 1824 to save lives at sea, was the beneficiary of this 16th annual Gala Charity Concert staged in the Grand Marquee—one of the largest marquees in Europe.

The Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre hosted its 43rd Anniversary Gala in Hollywood on Saturday, August 25th. More than a thousand Scientologists and guests attended including many of the Church’s well-known members, among them John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Giovanni Ribisi, Michael Pena, Anne Archer, Jenna Elfman, Danny Masterson, Jason Lee, Erika Christensen, Nancy Cartwright and Stanley Clarke whose special performance closed the evening’s celebration.

Former drug addicts carry out 350 km (217 mile) run to raise awareness on the danger of drugs
Volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Amsterdam joined former addicts in a two-week 350 km (217 mile) anti-drug marathon through Holland to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs. The team kicked off their cross-country journey August 2 in the town of Den Helder with the mayor joining them for the first kilometer of the run.

Olympics fans from around the world danced in the streets of London during the Olympic as the Jive Aces serenaded the city from the Drug-Free World double-decker bus, spreading the word that life is much more fun when you live it drug-free.
TAMPA, FLORIDA •
The Church of Scientology of Tampa honored five civic leaders August 4 at a special open house held in honor of International Day of Friendship. The Church presented awards to Shannon Edge, Maria Asuncion Lopez, Sam Mobley, Dr. Wallace Reyes, and Pastor Essie Sims for their work to make a difference in the Tampa Bay community.

In honor of the 10th anniversary of their annual Human Rights Marathon, Scientology Churches and Missions throughout the Commonwealth of Independent States have dedicated the entire month from July 5 to August 4 to human rights awareness activities.
Major events were staged in cities throughout the CIS. The month’s activities began July 5 in Kiev with the grand finale held Saturday, August 4 in St. Petersburg.
AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS •
This summer, volunteers from the Church of Scientology are taking aim against drugs in the Waterland and Zaan region of the Netherlands, where teen drug abuse runs well above national averages. In this area, one in five youths ages 13 – 17 have used drugs—one in 11 in the past month alone.
MADRID, SPAIN •
For the first time, the Scientology religion is included in the Diccionario de la Lengua Española de la Real Academia Española (Dictionary of the Spanish Language of the Royal Academy of Spain) or DRAE, the most authoritative dictionary of the Spanish language. Produced, edited, and published by the Royal Spanish Academy since 1780 and now in its 22nd edition, it defines Scientology religion as a “religious movement originating in the United States, which aims to promote awareness through certain introspective techniques.

The Church of Scientology Community Center of South Los Angeles hosted a special performance June 24, the fifth annual concert of “Love-in-Music,” a nonprofit organization that introduces underserved children of the Los Angeles area to the joys of classical music.

At a round table at the Church of Scientology Moscow May 29 Church staff introduced legislators, community and civic leaders to the life and work of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard through the pages of a new 16-volume biographical encyclopedia.

HAITI •
Scientology Volunteer Minister Ayal Lindeman is carrying out his 6th humanitarian mission to Haiti since the January 2010 earthquake. Since arriving May 14, he has trained more than 1,100 community health personnel, families and first-responders in simple skills that save lives.
SOLOMON ISLANDS •
The Scientology Volunteer Ministers South Pacific Goodwill Tour has completed a series of seminars on Study Technology developed by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard. Delivering to teachers and students from 31 schools in Guadalcanal, the volunteers addressed education as the key issue to improve conditions for the island.
