Human Rights was the theme July 30 when the Church of Scientology New York hosted a United Nations Friendship Day celebration for Scientology parishioners and community leaders.
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA •
On Saturday, August 24, the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International hosted its 44th Anniversary Gala in Hollywood. The black-tie event was attended by more than 1,000 guests including such prominent members of the Church as John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Anne Archer, Jenna Elfman, Nancy Cartwright, Michael Pena, Erika Christensen, Emily Armstrong, Cedric Bixler and Laura Prepon. The annual affair culminated in an ensemble musical concert featuring Grammy-winning jazz legend Chick Corea.

The Church of Scientology of Melbourne organized a human rights education workshop for leaders of the Australian Oromo Community.
Leaders of the African Oromo Community in Melbourne attended a human rights seminar July 7, 2013, as the first step of a program to bring change and hope to the Oromo people. The training session, organized by the Church of Scientology of Melbourne, introduced community leaders to the human rights education program of Youth for Human Rights, an initiative supported by the Church of Scientology.

The Truth About Drugs initiative, supported by the Church of Scientology, works year-round to combat drug abuse and addiction.
The Truth About Drugs team of Venezuela pulled out all stops June 26, United National International Day against Drug Abuse and Addiction, to bring the message of drug-free living to people throughout the country.

Volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Melbourne promote drug-free living at Aussie Rules Football game.
In the wake of reports of increased use of social drugs like cocaine and methamphetamines among Australian Rules football players, volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Melbourne distributed thousands of copies of The Truth About Drugs booklets to Aussie Rules fans July 7 at an Australia Football League game at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Athletes from Scientology Churches, Missions and like-minded groups in the Commonwealth of Independent States ran in the 5th Annual Marathon for a Drug-Free Russia to spread the truth about drugs in towns and cities throughout their country.
