On December 5 – International Volunteer Day–the Church of Scientology is launching a new 2-minute informational ad entitled “Together.” Featured on the Scientology website, www.scientology.org, and the Church of Scientology YouTube Channel, the video pays tribute to the more than 700,000 unpaid helpers of all faiths and walks of life who use the humanitarian initiatives and social betterment programs sponsored by the Church of Scientology to address the problems that plague us all.
ROME, ITALY •
Volunteers from the Churches of Scientology across Italy reach out this summer to create a drug-free country.
Millions of tourists from around the world vacation in Italy each summer. In Rome alone, a city of over 3 million, the population swells by more than three times with visitors each year. As the last of the tourists return home, the Church of Scientology’s “Say ‘No’ to Drugs, Say ‘Yes’ to Life” teams caps this summer’s drug-education and prevention activities, bringing their drug-free message to local residents and tourists alike.

On World Humanitarian Day August 19, the Church of Scientology International honors the many thousands of Scientology Volunteer Ministers and those with whom they partner to bring help in desperate times across 120 nations.
The United Nations designates August 19 as World Humanitarian Day—“a time to recognize those who face danger and adversity to help others” and “to celebrate the spirit that inspires humanitarian work around the globe.”

At today’s Sun Festival in Tsawwassen, British Columbia, and every chance they get, Vancouver Scientologists are distributing copies of The Truth About Drugs booklets to youth, parents, teachers, counselors and law enforcement officers, inviting one and all to pledge to live drug-free.

Winter is here down under, and it seemed like just any other Thursday afternoon in Sydney’s central business district. That is, until a troop of men and women in traditional Maori costume transformed the otherwise ordinary day into a celebration—a celebration of drug-free living.

In June 2014, Scientology Volunteer Ministers Balkans Disaster Response Team in the Bosnia and Herzegovina village of Kopanica help a man salvage his farm after May’s devastating floods.
The damage caused by the May 2014 floods has been estimated at €1.3 billion in Bosnia and Herzegovina—more than the entire cost to that country by the 1990’s war. But to someone like Vlado, a man from the village of Kopanica, those figures were irrelevant—he was at risk of losing everything.
CARIBBEAN ISLANDS •
On the evening of Saturday June 14, fireworks fell above St. Kitts Bay as the Scientology Motor Vessel Freewinds launched on her Silver Anniversary Cruise. In celebration of her 25 years at sea, a weeklong convocation convened aboard the religious retreat, attended by more than 200 advanced Scientologists from Churches around the world.

Despite the downpour that marked this year’s Vancouver International Marathon, the Volunteer Ministers of the Church of Scientology of Vancouver provided volunteer manpower to help make the event a success.
More than 16,000 runners turned out this year for the 43rd running of the race, which has been recognized by Forbes as one of the top 10 marathons of the world.
