Despite the downpour that marked this year’s Vancouver International Marathon, the Volunteer Ministers of the Church of Scientology of Vancouver provided volunteer manpower to help make the event a success.
More than 16,000 runners turned out this year for the 43rd running of the race, which has been recognized by Forbes as one of the top 10 marathons of the world.

With increased violence threatening the lives of the people of the state of Baja California Sur, state officials have adopted the Truth About Drugs program of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World. The launch included training of 50 educators to begin delivery of the program in the state’s schools.

The United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) estimates the flooding of early April 2012, the worst in decades, caused $71.3 million in damage. And although the waters have receded, entire villages were submerged in floodwaters and the damage continues to impact the lives of thousands.
