Spreading Happiness at a Marathon Through the Italian Alps
Running for a better life in Northwest Italy with the common sense moral code, The Way to Happiness.
The Way to Happiness Association of Turin took part in The Mount Zerbion Alpemarathon, a race through mountain trails from Chatillon to Saint Vincent in the Aosta Valley of the Italian Alps.
The group’s 14 athletes were led by Scientologist and acclaimed ultramarathoner Simone Leo who is training to compete in the grueling 246-km (152-mile) Spartathlon on September 30 in Athens, Greece.
Seven others manned a booth where they handed out copies of The Way to Happiness—the common sense moral code from which the group takes its name.
Written by humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, The Way to Happiness fills the moral void. It contains a set of principles anyone of any culture or creed may subscribe to, with basic tenets of honesty and mutual respect to foster harmony and cooperation.
Volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Turin have participated in this event and handed out copies of The Way to Happiness for the past five years.
The race was organized by the president of the Piedmont Interprovincial Committee of the Italian Federation of Amateur Sport and the Montecervino Group. It is held in the spirit of friendship to promote social engagement and healthy living. Hundreds of professional and amateur runners from across Italy participated.
The Scientology religion was founded by author and philosopher L. Ron Hubbard. The first Church of Scientology was formed in Los Angeles in 1954 and the religion has expanded to more than 11,000 Churches, Missions and affiliated groups, with millions of members in 167 countries.
