Meet a Scientologist—Lea Wilson, Living the Life She Always Wanted

Scientology helps Lea Wilson accomplish her goals in life.

Growing up, Lea Wilson knew what she wanted. And that’s exactly what she got. But life wasn’t always as straightforward or satisfying as it is today.

“What was really important to me was getting married and raising a family, but my attempts to find the right guy weren’t working,” says Wilson.

She had just ended a terrible relationship when her brother called her one day and asked how it was going.

“I burst into tears. It was horrible,” she says.

Her brother suggested she enroll on several courses at the Church of Scientology Mission of San Francisco and arranged for her to have some auditing—Scientology spiritual counseling.

“The changes were subtle and I didn’t notice them at first, but I started to become more confident—more focused,” says Wilson.

It was at the Mission that she met husband Todd.

“Through all the tough times, we have kept each other laughing,” says Wilson. “He makes me feel stronger just by his being there. He supports me and I do the same for him. Thanks to what we learned in Scientology, we have always been able to resolve whatever comes up in our marriage.”

Wilson loves being a mother.

“My three kids are my life. It’s so important to me that they retain their love of learning and, to a certain degree, their innocence,” she says. “I observed that by 2nd or 3rd grade today, kids are jaded. They distrust adults. That’s when I decided to homeschool my children, and I am so glad I did. They are doing really well academically and they are involved in what’s happening in the world. They have many friends of different ages. One of my 11-year-old son’s friends is 15, and they converse at the same level about common interests.”

Wilson is also vice president of a homeschooling nonprofit group and moderator of the group’s website, where people can post resources and ideas and ask for help.

“People are important to me—my family, my friends, the people I meet through our homeschooling association,” says Wilson. “They can tell I care because I really do.”
