Scientology Opened Doors for Jean Chen
Scientology gave Jean Chen a precious gift—the ability to help others. Her Profile is one of 200 “Meet a Scientologist” videos available on the Scientology website at www.scientology.org.
Jean Chen could not be more delighted with what she has gained through Scientology.
Chen goes out of her way to help people whenever the occasion arises, because if a friend had not asked her how she was doing and offered her help, Chen might never have become a Scientologist.
The owner/manager of a business that manufactures custom-made industrial doors in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Chen was worried about her three children who were having trouble in school.
“A friend of mine knew of my concern and thought Scientology might help me solve this problem,” says Chen. “I took my children to the Church of Scientology Mission in Kaohsiung and we enrolled on courses. Then I brought my husband too. We all had such success with the training we did, the whole family became Scientologists.”
Her daughter and two sons learned L. Ron Hubbard’s Study Technology, which immediately ended their difficulties in school. But the benefits they gained from Scientology went far beyond the academic, which Chen noticed when her older son went out of his way for her one day—something he did not usually do. She also noticed a dramatic change when her daughter read Introduction to Scientology Ethics by L. Ron Hubbard.
“Before, if she disagreed with me I would never know what she was going to do. Since reading the book, she lets me know so we can sort things out,” says Chen. “It is so much easier to get along with each other now.”
In fact, the affinity each family member has for one another became stronger than it ever was before.
“There is no longer a generation gap. We share things with each other in the spirit of friendship,” Chen says. “I may give them advice, but I no longer try to force them to do what I think they ought to do. And they are far more willing to look and make sane decisions about their plans and actions.”
Chen also put her knowledge of the basic principles of Dianetics and Scientology to good use to help her sister.
“When my sister’s husband died, I was able to help her overcome the loss with Scientology assists—techniques developed by Mr. Hubbard that help the individual recover from loss, stress and trauma,” she says.
In fact, Chen uses Scientology whenever the occasion arises—with family, employees, customers and anyone she meets.
“Scientology makes it possible to really help people,” says Chen. “With the tools you learn as a Scientologist, you can make a big difference in people’s lives, just as my friend did with mine.”
