Church of Scientology Opens Doors to New Ideal South Coast Mission
October 22 was a landmark day for Lake Forest, California, as the town welcomed the new Ideal Church of Scientology Mission of South Coast to its new home.
On a glorious Southern California afternoon, set against the Saddleback Mountains in the town of Lake Forest, Scientologists from Los Angeles, San Diego and all points in between joined local leaders, dignitaries, and the parishioners and staff of the Church of Scientology Mission of South Coast to celebrate the dedication of their ideal new facilities in the heart of Orange County.
Scientology Missions form the vanguard of the Scientology religion, providing the full array of basic and introductory Scientology services and Scientology auditing (spiritual counseling). Now joining the ranks of Ideal Missions, the Church of Scientology Mission of South Coast is designed to serve as the physical embodiment of Scientology technology in helping all to attain spiritual freedom.
Welcoming the Church to its new home and speaking about its history of humanitarian contribution to Orange County were Lake Forest Mayor Pro Tem Scott Voigts; Lake Forest Mayor Emeritus Kathryn McCullough; Law Enforcement Administrative Director Rebekah Coltman; and Founder and CEO of Youth-on-the-Move Education International Ms. Patricia Adelekan.
“I am so pleased that your Church defends human rights for all,” said Mayor Voigts. “Your Youth for Human Rights education program is designed for teachers, community leaders or anyone willing to stand up and take action to help others understand and know their rights, and this cannot help but uplift a community and bring its people to a higher plane.”
His sentiment was echoed by former Mayor McCullough, who served on the Lake Forest City Council for more than two decades. She thanked the Church for its enduring dedication to serving those she represented. “Here in Lake Forest, we are a family, she said. “And I’d like to say, ’Welcome to the family! Keep growing. Keep doing what you’ve already been doing and know to do best.’”
Ms. Coltman, another pillar of the Lake Forest community, spoke of her collaboration with the Church over the years.
“I’ve been to many Scientology Churches over the years, and they all have this in common: your staff and your parishioners want to help their friends and neighbors,” she said. “I am so excited to see you use your skill and knowledge at a whole new level with this beautiful facility, and all of it animated by your golden intentions to make this world a better place.”
Finally, Dr. Adelekan—a Southern California institution who has taught at five major colleges in the region—spoke of her appreciation for the life and work of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard.
“I challenge each and every one of you here today to use this new Ideal Mission to study deeply and avail yourselves of Mr. Hubbard’s principles, philosophies, theories and services,” she said. “Read his many books and articles, open yourself up and discover a fascinating and mighty new world that aims to help every man, woman and child on earth!”
Visitors to the Lake Forest Mission are welcome to tour the Public Information Display, featuring multimedia presentations of the basic beliefs and practices of Dianetics and Scientology as well as the life and legacy of L. Ron Hubbard.
As an Ideal Church of Scientology Mission, Lake Forest is equipped with every facility needed to provide the full array of introductory Scientology services. These include the popular Life Improvement Courses through which anyone may find workable solutions to common challenges of everyday life—such as how to improve a marriage, successfully raise children, increase personal motivation, and set and achieve goals.
The new Mission also offers seminars on a wide range of topics, including personal efficiency. The Hubbard Dianetics Seminar is based on Mr. Hubbard’s watershed work Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, the bestselling book that reveals the source of one’s nightmares, unreasonable fears and irrational behavior—the reactive mind—and how to conquer it.
Additionally, the Mission provides spiritual counseling, known as auditing, and the Purification Program, developed by Mr. Hubbard to free individuals from the mental and spiritual damage caused by drugs and toxins.
The Scientology religion was founded by author and philosopher L. Ron Hubbard. The first Church of Scientology was formed in Los Angeles in 1954 and the religion has expanded to more than 11,000 Churches, Missions and affiliated groups, with millions of members in 167 countries.
