Sheriff Lee Baca has given religious leaders in Los Angeles a mandate to bring the truth about drugs to their communities.
On June 9, 2011, Sheriff Baca officiated at a unique graduation ceremony. He acknowledged over 100 members of the clergy with Drug-Free World Prevention Specialist Certificates bearing his signature and the seal of L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

PASADENA, CA—The City of Pasadena honored the Church of Scientology of Pasadena May 18 with a 2011 Historic Preservation Award. At the awards ceremony, held as part of the city’s observance of National Historic Preservation Month, Assemblyman Anthony J. Portantino also presented the Church with a Certificate of Recognition on behalf of the California State Assembly.

This week marks the anniversary of the publication of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health by L. Ron Hubbard. Released May 9, 1950, the past six decades have seen the popularity of this best-selling self-help book continue to grow. Dianetics is now available in 165 nations in 50 languages, more than 21 million copies have been sold, and it has appeared on 116 bestseller lists, making it a publishing phenomenon.

Youth in 40 Nations Speak Up for Human Rights
Thousands of youth in more than 40 nations, representing Scientology Churches and Youth for Human Rights International chapters, organized and participated in Human Rights Walks, educational forums and interactive seminars December 10 in observance of the 62nd anniversary of ratification of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Churches of Scientology in 14 countries joined forces with Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) last week conducting a global petition drive in support of human rights education. Based on the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the petition calls on governments to make human rights education mandatory and to conduct human rights education campaigns. The Declaration was ratified by the UN General Assembly in 1948 and defines the fundamental freedoms and human rights in the United Nations Charter.

Published May 9, 1950, Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health became an overnight success and has been a continuing bestseller for 60 years. The work is the anatomy and full description of a portion of the mind that is the source of nightmares, unreasonable fears, upsets and insecurities. More than 20 million copies have been sold.

The Church of Scientology of Pasadena is underway on renovations of the historic Braley Building in the heart of Old Pasadena. The full renovation and restoration of the Braley Building by fall 2010 reflects significant expansion for the Pasadena Church. The 50,800-square-foot building at 35 South Raymond Avenue will serve 10,000 parishioners and provide a broad spectrum of community outreach programs in the greater Pasadena area, including Glendale, La Cañada, La Crescenta, Sunland/Tujunga, the San Gabriel Valley, the Inland Empire and San Bernardino.

The Los Angeles-based publishing house is the exclusive publisher for the Scientology religion and one of the world’s largest all-digital printers. In its announcement to the trade, Nicole Shell, Bridge’s Director of Public Relations said the feat makes the most popular basic Scientology books available to 90 percent of the global book market.
