A KANSAS CITY LANDMARK The Beaux Arts masterpiece that is now home to the Church of Scientology Kansas City was constructed in 1926 as the home of City Bank. The seven-story structure rises prominently on Grand Boulevard, one of the city’s major thoroughfares. Designed by the prominent architecture firm of Holden, Ferris and Barnes, the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. © 2024 Church of Scientology International. The magnificently restored facility, built in 1926, is a city landmark and registered historic site of national significance. The basement features the original bank vault made up of “SteelCrete,” a technological innovation for banks of the day consisting of a complex system of interwoven steel set in thin layers of concrete. © 2024 Church of Scientology International. After acquiring the landmark U-shaped building, the Church worked with artisans to preserve architecturally and historically significant features.
